Original artwork description
The significance of the fruit bowl is where the inspiration came from. It's just a little thing but full of meaning to me. It was a birthday gift to my mother from her old friend Rena and survived a house move that saw the letting go of many keepsakes. A few years earlier we were stunned to learn that age had forced Rena herself to dispense with all her ornaments in an effort to downsize. When it was my mother's turn to cull treasured mementos I knew this object should survive and here it is.
The style is relaxed and flowing with leaves intertwining and shapes cascading with deep orange lines on a pale green ground. I especially like the scrap of blue under the wonky foot.
The picture uses acrylic ink and paint layered over a pattern of collaged acid-free tissue. The surface is a canvas panel, given a final layer of protection with Golden UV satin varnish.
Signed on the front and on the reverse with description and title.
