Original artwork description
Red Over Blue is an oil painting from the series Present Tense. A coral-red sky burns above cobalt water, and between them wild grasses, flowers and pale stones catch the light. Heavy impasto meets fine, drawn lines; wide fields of pure color stay silent so that a few dense areas can speak. The landscape is recognizable, but it belongs to no particular place. Red stands for pulse and the immediate moment, blue for depth and memory. Where they meet, the painting asks what the present feels like when it is fully, almost uncomfortably awake. Oil on canvas, 55 × 55 cm, signed, ready to hang.
