On the Zaan (2026) Original Oil Painting by Toni Swiffen

This vibrant painting captures the charm and tranquility of a waterside village, inspired by traditional Dutch architecture. A row of characterful houses—painted in warm terracotta and rich green tones—line the canal, their distinctive gabled facades and steep roofs adding a sense of rhythm and history to the scene.
In the foreground, a sleek boat glides across deep blue water, introducing a subtle sense of movement that contrasts beautifully with the stillness of the buildings. The sky above is rendered in soft, blended blues, creating a calm atmosphere that enhances the peaceful, everyday beauty of life by the water.
The composition balances bold color with simplified forms, giving the piece a slightly contemporary, stylized feel while remaining rooted in a recognizable landscape. Visible brushstrokes and layered textures add depth and personality, making it as much about the joy of paint as the subject itself.
This piece would bring a sense of serenity, color, and European charm to any space—perfect for collectors who appreciate architectural scenes, waterscapes, or travel-inspired artwork.
