Original artwork description
Mountain River is a classic alpine landscape in oil: snow capped peaks under a bright turquoise sky, dark pines and flame orange autumn trees along the bank, and a fast rocky river running toward you through the foreground. A tall tree with a pale trunk frames the scene on the left, so the view opens the way it would from the riverbank itself. The style is painterly and fresh, closer to a vivid memory of a hike than to a photograph.
The painting belongs to my Luminous Landscapes series, where I chase light in nature, from misty mornings to glowing dusks. Here it is midday mountain light, cold on the snow and warm on the foliage, and that contrast is what I wanted most: the cool blue and white of the peaks against the hot orange of the maples and the deep green of the firs. The river carries the sky color down into the foreground and ties the whole scene together.
The canvas measures W x H cm (W x H in), a vertical format that works well on a narrow wall, beside a window, in a hallway, a study or a mountain cabin. From a distance it reads as a calm, complete view, and up close the surface shows the quick lively strokes of the foliage and the water.
It is painted in oil on stretched canvas with brushes and a palette knife, the snow on the peaks and the white water pulled with the knife over wet paint. The painting is signed and varnished, the sides are painted, and it arrives ready to hang with no frame needed.
It ships stretched on its wooden bars in a sturdy protective box, never rolled, by tracked and insured courier from Lisbon, Portugal, usually within 3 to 5 working days. Keep it away from direct sunlight and damp, dust it with a soft dry cloth, and the varnish will protect the colors for decades. If you have a question about the painting or would like to see it in a particular interior, send me a message, I reply quickly.
