Long Beach (2020) Original Watercolour by Bogdan Shiptenko

I painted this one after spending time at Long Beach in Alanya. The water there is that unreal Mediterranean turquoise, and the whole shoreline is packed with palms, umbrellas and hotel buildings. I tried to keep the washes loose and quick, and only added small details on the buildings where they really needed it.

My favorite part is the little figures in the water and along the shore. They’re tiny, but they make the scene feel alive. It’s a lazy summer day, and you can almost hear the waves.
