London is an original painting in oil and acrylic on 400 gram canvas, 36 x 48 inches, by London artist Ryan Louder. A cityscape of the city I've painted for years — vivid, layered, never quite still.

London changes character depending on the hour, and this painting is my version of it: the skyline, the river, and the way light moves over both. As with much of my work, the image developed on the canvas as I painted — part observation, part dream, shaped by my experience with REM intrusion (please see my bio).

I'm a London-based artist, and my work often reflects vivid and surreal imagery inspired by my unique experience with REM intrusion — a condition where dream-like visions can appear while I'm awake. My paintings explore the boundary between waking reality and the dream world, using layered compositions to create a sense of depth and movement.

I paint with high-quality materials and put a lot of thought into texture and detail. My process is a mix of intuitive brushwork and deliberate layering, aiming to create pieces that are rich in emotion and invite you to see something new each time you look at them.
