Known World (2026) Original Acrylic Painting by Charles BEALL

73 x 49 x 3"

$7,500

Six panels, hung as one field. Across them, found wood gathers into masses — dense and stacked in some, drifting nearly empty in others, with single blocks set loose in the open ground like islands. The composition reads as a map of a place that never existed, or as the residue of one.

The material is salvaged: weathered boards, split timber, offcuts, each carrying the wear it arrived with. Over these come acrylic, stain, and metal leaf, in deep blues and reds against a warm pale ground, so that gold and silver surface where the wood was most broken.

The gaps between panels are part of the work. The world is known in pieces, with distance between them.

Acrylic, stain, metal leaf and found wood on six plywood panels. 72 × 48 in overall, plus installation gaps.

Materials used:

Acrylic, Found Objects, Gold Leaf
