cyan chandelier (2014) Photograph by Daniel Fontaine

63.5 x 43.2 x 0.17cm (unframed) / 59.5 x 33.5cm (actual image size)

$350

For my series on New York City, I sought to capture the sheer scale, the frenzy, and the somewhat chaotic nature of this dizzying, sleepless megalopolis. To amplify these sensations, I chose to use the technique of multiple exposure. Then, since the Big Apple is—both literally and figuratively—a vibrant, colorful city, I felt that a black-and-white image was missing that special something. That is why, during post-production, I decided to introduce a single color to give the image a distinctive glow.

This photograph immerses the viewer in a deep cyan palette, traversed by translucent circles and bursts of light points that radiate outward. At the center, two brilliant nuclei provide structure to the image, while blurred filaments and sharp streaks create an effect of movement and depth. The composition evokes a luminous, precise, and immersive suspension.

Printed on 100% cotton paper—free of acid and optical brighteners (Fine Art print)—using pigment-based inks. The paper measures 63.5 cm by 43.2 cm, and the image measures 59.5 cm by 33.5 cm. Consequently, the image is surrounded by a margin.
