You never see the wind.
Yet it can do all sorts of things.
Though invisible,
it can play music
and imitate the cries of animals.
Mischievous,
it lifts the skirts of girls.
Playful,
it sends the poet's pages flying.
Kindly,
it carries ships safely into harbour.
But,
depending on its mood,
it can also become fierce.
Without mercy,
it swallows whole cities.
It devours forests
with the fire of its breath.
Sometimes,
we would like to scold it.
To lecture it.
Or even
drag it into court.
But Mr Aeolus,
masked by transparency,
disdains being held accountable.
Instead,
without any shame at all,
he vanishes into thin air.
