- convergence I
Original artwork description
The sculpture convergence I consists of numerous individual wire pins, which are joined together through carefully placed welded joints to form a compact, cubic structure. The varying orientations and visible cut surfaces of the pins create a multi-layered structure that balances order and irregularity.
The metal cube, which can be rotated freely and removed from its plinth, allows for different perspectives on the work and continually reveals new insights into its structure.
In terms of its theme, convergence I explores the interplay of individual elements that only form a whole when combined. The diversity of forms and directions coalesces into a shared unity and symbolically refers to human life, in which thoughts, feelings and experiences shape the individual personality.
The plinth, made of solid reclaimed pine, creates a deliberate contrast to the dark metal structure. The characteristic grain and traces of past use lend the work an additional material depth and combine the industrial appearance of the metal with the rich history of the wood.

wire nails, reclaimed pine wood, steel
