Watercolour and ink, originally for This is San Francisco, 1962. You can still ride the cable cars in San Francisco – they are the world’s last manually operated. Here we have a composite image of three zigging and zagging the steep streets of the City and ending, as we see, on a turntable. Sasek loved these cable cars and used them extensively to illustrate his whimsical guide to San Francisco.

This print is authorised for publication by the artist's Estate and has a seal of authenticity embossed onto the white paper margin. It is from a limited edition of 850 and is hand-numbered and hand-embossed. This print has a typed caption running along its paper border. The caption indicates permission and authorisation from the artist's Estate, and from the museum or gallery holding the work. The caption will be concealed by a mount when the print is framed.
