Body as Language is an original artwork born from a body-painting project created in Barcelona in collaboration with LGBTQ+ Assoc. FAR.

The original project involved three bodies, transformed through hand-painted marks and colours inspired by the visual language of the LGBTQ+ community. Pink, blue, black and white became more than a colour palette: they became a way of speaking through the body.
After working directly on the human body, I brought that experience back onto the canvas. The painting preserves the energy and movement of the original body-painting process, translating gestures that once existed on skin into a permanent visual composition.

The calligraphic marks are deliberately unreadable. They do not form a sentence in an existing alphabet. Instead, they suggest a language made of movement, identity and emotion — a language that can be felt without necessarily being translated.
For me, the central idea of the work is simple: before we speak, we communicate through our bodies.

A gesture, a colour, a posture or a mark can express belonging, vulnerability, freedom and resistance without using a single word.
Working with FAR gave this idea a particularly personal dimension. The body became not only the surface of the artwork, but also the message itself. The painting therefore sits between body painting, calligraphy and abstract art, transforming a temporary performance into a lasting object.
Body as Language is ultimately about the possibility of expressing who we are without having to translate ourselves into someone else's language.
