- Birch bird
Original artwork description
I hadn't really set out to create a bird; rather, the aim was to craft another dynamic, lively sculpture from the halved birch log. The wood already displayed a mottled texture, hinting at the early stages of aging. Yet it remained solid, and it was precisely this texture that made it interesting. Its complex form—featuring several open spaces—may evoke various associations, leaving room for each viewer’s unique interpretation.
In any case, it is a geometrically intriguing and compelling shape with a poetic expression all its own.
The sculpture is mounted on a light-colored stone base and has been treated with oil.
