A brief encounter becomes a moment of stillness.
Soft roses unfold across the paper while a hummingbird hawk-moth approaches them, suspended for an instant between movement and rest. The flowers are carefully observed, yet parts of the composition remain unfinished and almost disappear into the white of the paper.
I was drawn to the contrast between the permanence of painting and the fleeting nature of the encounter. Watercolor allows both to exist together — delicate forms, open space and traces of movement.
The work is less about capturing a flower or an insect precisely than about holding onto the quiet intensity of seeing them together for just a moment.
