- Before It Takes Form
Original artwork description
Before It Takes Form explores a threshold — the moment when something begins to emerge but has not yet become fully visible or defined.
A pale field of light and translucent colour opens above darker, unresolved traces of matter. Subtle lemon, muted pink, green and iridescent tones shift across the surface as the surrounding light changes, giving the painting a quiet sense of movement and depth.
Although the composition may evoke a distant horizon or an imagined landscape, it does not describe a particular place. These traces remain deliberately ambiguous. They suggest something still forming — an image, a memory, a presence — while leaving space for the viewer's own perception.
Built through layers of oil paint, transparency and softened transitions, the work explores the relationship between colour, light, matter and emptiness. What interests Aloosan is not the representation of light itself, but the point at which light seems to open another spatial possibility within the painting.
The restrained composition and atmospheric depth give the work a contemplative presence. Its appearance changes subtly with viewing distance and natural light, revealing delicate shifts of colour that are not immediately visible at first glance.
