Amaryllis in Red
A study of red amaryllis, painted from life with particular attention to the richness of color, light, and the sculptural character of the flowers.
The intense crimson blossoms emerge from a restrained, muted background, creating a strong contrast between the vivid flowers and the quiet surrounding space. Subtle variations of warm and cool reds, together with deep shadows and small highlights, give the petals volume and a sense of natural presence.
The painting reflects my interest in the classical still-life tradition and in finding beauty in simple, familiar subjects. Rather than describing every detail, I wanted to preserve the freshness of the flowers and the immediate impression of light and color.
