$391.58

A mixed-media collage portrait with a contemporary editorial and urban art sensibility, combining a monochrome figure rendered in soft lines with striking graphic elements and ephemeral material printed in layers. The understated realism of the face contrasts with the pink-red garment, painted in a vivid, loose style, whose speckled touches of blue and violet are reminiscent of contemporary expressionist painting. The black areas, drips and delicate botanical drawings lend a handcrafted feel, characteristic of screen printing, whilst the scattered diagrams, numbers, typography and paper textures evoke vintage posters and experimental graphic design. The colour palette consists mainly of white, charcoal and grey, dotted with saturated crimson, magenta and turquoise. The composition places the seated figure prominently amidst a busy yet balanced field of collage fragments, with a large red circle and blue dots providing sharp geometric counterpoints. It is a mixed-media work, digitally assembled in advance and finished on MDF using acrylics and the transfer technique.
