This painting is from my new series, The Language of Light. Green is a colour most people think of as calm and cool, but when the light gets into it, it comes alive. Here a soft glow breaks through from the top right and spills across fresh limes and sunny yellows, sweeping down through the canvas in one long curve.

Underneath it all sit deep teals and inky blues, with little touches of violet tucked into the shadows. A ribbon of warm gold runs through the middle, catching the light like the edge of a riverbank on a summer afternoon.

Painted in oils, this piece is about those moments in nature when the light finds its way through and everything around you starts to glow. I wanted it to feel cool and fresh, like stepping into the shade of the trees and looking up to see the sun shining through the leaves.
