I live close to Stonehenge, and visiting this extraordinary place has become a special part of my connection with the surrounding landscape. On this occasion, we went for a walk towards the end of the day, when the sun was getting lower and the light began to change.
I was drawn to the contrast between the ancient stones and the vivid green grass, illuminated by the warm golden light of the setting sun. The long shadows stretched across the ground, creating a beautiful sense of depth, while the clouds above added movement and softness to the sky.
I painted this scene in oils, trying to capture not only the appearance of this remarkable place, but also the atmosphere of that particular moment. For me, Stonehenge feels timeless — a place where the landscape, history and changing light come together in a quiet, powerful way.
