About Bowie Nichols
Biography
All of my paintings are one of a kind, original works. I do not make prints of my paintings.
Chaos crashing the calm. Beauty emerging from the dark recesses of the mind. Layers of mystery and secrets and dreams. These are the things I see in my work. I am more interested in processes than outcomes, and for that reason I never plan, I just start working and let the art appear. The act of dragging a tool loaded with paint across a canvas is a meditative experience for me, and I never feel quite as present as I do when I’m creating.
Abstraction is intuition and emotion, and I believe that abstract art is best experienced rather than read about or talked about. I can’t tell you why I prefer a darker, moodier color palette or why my paintings are concerned with movement and texture. My hope is simply that my work speaks to you in an imaginative and satisfying way.
