When I lived in rural South Africa, I was took particular delight in the colours and the contrasts of the landscape. Public services are few in the bush and one often discovers abandoned objects hidden in otherwise beautiful surroundings. On this particular afternoon, it had rained and the sheen of the wet tire glowed brilliantly in the hot sun- completely changing it's colours. Suddenly the tire no longer seemed so out of place. In this forgotten object I find incredible beauty- the beauty of change, of metamorphosis and of course, the deliciousness in the colours. It is this lushness of the ordinary that I hope to share with others; metaphorically speaking, even the most seemingly ordinary thing can conceal a world of beauty if one takes the time to look closely.
