  • Biography
My images deal with the recurring cycle of decay and reconstruction that transforms our lives and our environment, but which is often taken for granted. I seek to capture the beauty in the things that often go unnoticed, to become seduced by the details that betray the soft underbelly of the world. In this way even the most unexpected place or object becomes a kind of temporary home where I experience a deeper connection with my surroundings. Through lush colour and sensual brushwork, it is this connection with the ordinary, this appreciation for its beauty that I hope to awaken in others.

Autumn leaves display their most breathtaking colours for only a few weeks each year and are then blown to the ground where their beauty rapidly fades. This grand finale, a kind of mardi gras, reflects our need to find meaning and purpose in the processes of change, letting go, loss and renewal that are constant throughout our lives.

I embrace this process and portray it as a jubilant eulogy, inviting the observer to relish the beauty of the ordinary and to contemplate the gift of impermanence.
