    I’m an American painter currently living in the tropical island paradise of Key West!

    Much of my life has been spent living in and working Japan, and professional experience as an electronics technician has deeply influenced visual metaphors in my work. 

     I’ve received formal training in MFA studies at the Tokyo University of the Arts 東京藝術大学院 (2004-2005), where I studied oil painting under Professor Koji Kinutani. In my teens I apprenticed under a ceramicist, but transitioned to painting while completing a B.S in Studio Art from Nazareth College in my hometown of Rochester, NY (graduated 1998). While living in Kyoto, Japan from 2000-2004, I was introduced to the aesthetic and philosophies of Japanese artists, which continue to guide my compositions and subject matter. 

     Experiences while working in Gaeta, Italy from 2005-2007 and in Naples, Italy from 2017-2019, also inform my palette and themes.
