About Minh Dam

  • Biography

I was born in Vietnam in the very central part of his capital, Hanoi. At age of 7 I emigrated to Poland where I finished my whole education, from the 1st class of primary school to the master degree at the Faculty of Architecture of the Warsaw University of Technology. I'm Vietnamese heart and soul but as a human being I'm more European.

My career as an drawing & watercolor artist start in 2004 when I started my preparation for examinations for architectural studies. I soon fell in love with watercolor and since then I'm working with this medium every day. I can be described as a traveler artist because subjects of my paintings are mostly concentrated on architectures and places I visited. Most of my works are painted outdoor on location. I believe that plein-air works have stronger connection with the places where there were painted. They can show the essence of the spot in very limited brushstrokes.

Besides of being an architect and an artist I'm also trying to share my passion with others. For that reason in 2010 I have been developing my own art studio Lineare, where I'm teaching drawing and watercolor to over 80 students each year.

Although I'm Vietnamese I soon became co-founder of the Polish Watercolourist Association (SAP). Every year I'm organising numerous plein-air and studio workshops in Poland and abroad and also I keep taking part in many international events and exhibitions around the world.

Most of my efforts concentrate on the watercolour technique but I try to keeps on bringing my artistic involvement to new areas. The experiments not only concern drawing and painting, but also photography and film production.
