    I attend a weekly life drawing session at the Sussex County Arts Club in Brighton, East Sussex although this photo has been taken of me at The Spiegel Tent for a large life drawing event held during the Brighton Festival.

    Painting at Herstmonceaux

    Painting at Herstmonceaux

    Another plein air painting session this time in the grounds of Herstmonceaux Castle, East Sussex. Two other friends can be seen painting the wonderful grove of 500 year old Spanish Chestnut trees. I am just doing the basic drawing here before starting to work in acrylic colour. I don't use this method now - I wash in a tonal underpainting with thinned paint and a rag and then work in oil colour on top.

    This photograph was taken in my current studio in Hove, East Sussex for an article in "International Artist" magazine. I was working on a New York painting "Bryant Park", sold soon afterwards.

    Painting at Shoreham

    I go out with a small group of friends to paint en plein air in the local (mainly Sussex) countryside. This is Shoreham Harbour not long before a thunderstorm came along and curtailed any further painting that day!
