  • Biography
Lizzie Butler is an expressive, semi abstract artist, who works in a contemporary style in oil. Her strong spatial awareness and a passion for working en plein air, inform her practice and lead to paintings that recreate the intangible atmosphere found in landscapes and the peaceful silence of nature.  Most of her pieces are begun outside and completed in her London studio.

Although working primarily in oil, Lizzie also enjoys the physicality of exploring etching with zinc and steel plates, to create intaglio prints.

Lizzie Butler's artwork has been exhibited at Leighton House Museum, Kensington, London; Eggisons, Berkeley Square, London and The Russell Gallery, London.

Lizzie's paintings can be found in collections in America, New Zealand, the UK and across Europe, with several customers returning to buy further paintings and place commissions.

Please contact Lizzie should you be interested in discussing an idea for a commissioned artwork.

"When we’re at the fusion of land, water and open sky, it’s more than an encompassing vista. We begin to remember things, imagine others, and sometimes lose our busy selves altogether. The notion that art transports the viewer is highly interpretive, of course. Assembled are seven contemporary painters who live their landscapes, and can easily take you with them."
