About Erika Katkevica

  • Biography
My painting adventures started back in 1995, when I first attained Karlis Dobrajs studio classes. Two years later I already organized my fits Watercolor exhibition in Latvian Society House, where majority of my paintings were sold. Later on I found exciting to paint with Oil and Acrylic. I even started attaining Latvian Art Academy admission courses, despite my shyness, and some other plot twisting scenarios, I did not even apply to studies in Academy, which made some of my lecturers very confused. I am currently "VEF" Culture Palace's art studios member, and I actively participate in folk art exhibitions. I have never stepped out of my motherland with my art, so here I am now, a tiny paint stroke in a painting.

In my work,You probably won't find ornate expressionism, significant color combinations, nevertheless I am amazed by various painting directions such as Im & Ex  -pressionism, Fauvism etc.

I believe that every creative artist is unique, with its foreplay with colors, rhythm, expression of thought, forcing himself to see the world with his own proposed glance.
