About Joanne Carmody Meierhofer

  • Biography
I have been making art  as long as I remember. For the past 15 years I've been especially into soft pastel. I love how forgiving it is. I love the color and the techniques for applying it. As a resident of Northern Wisconsin I am surrounded, year round, by the changing beauty of the landscape and Lake Superior.I  enjoy painting plein air as this dry medium is perfect  for direct observation. The local college offers free life drawing sessions and I try to take advantage so that I can hone my drawing skills. I do enjoy painting portraits, usually picking on members of my family but I would welcome commissions.
My personal techniques vary from piece to piece but I work on archival sanded paper, either white with an underpainting or on toned paper.
