About Helen Wells

  • Biography

An artist based on the South Coast of England. Helen's work is intricate and organic. Decorative and detailed. Her original artworks often depict beautiful illusionary surfaces or landscapes.

With multiple layers, fragments, stunning colours and obsessive decorative details, her abstract works are inspired by the colours and patterns of nature and bring to mind magical other-worlds.

Helen often combines mediums such as ink, watercolour paint and paper to create fascinating and memorable art works that celebrate the joyful side of life and which allude to infinite possibilities.

Her artworks are in private collections all over the world from America to New Zealand. In 2014 she won Winsor and Newton's "Watercolour Revolution" competition. in 2016 she had an exhibition of her work in one of Gordon Ramsay's restaurants in London. Helen is the author of Expressive Sketchbooks: Developing Creative Skills Courage and Confidence, published by Quarry Books in 2020 and runs online courses helping others to develop their creativity.
