30 Pieces of Landscapes and Life Drawing on display in this unique and vibrant Café
Biography
I am an artist working in pastels, acrylics, collage. I enjoy experimenting with different materials and try to capture the mood of my subjects be they human or landscapes. Colour is one of the key elements for me and I find that preparing my papers using strong acrylic backgrounds helps to generate an atmosphere and an energy to work with and sometimes against. I work into the prepared surfaces with soft pastel and pastel pencils. I also work onto prepared pages of old text books enjoying the contrasts between text and image.
As far as it is possible I work directly from models and landscapes and from my sketchbooks.
During this lockdown period my work has evolved and I am working from memories and my imagination which is resulting in dreamlike narrative paintings. Many strands are coming together: my love of plants, allotments and animals which as well as drawing the figure. The results are curious to me and I am following these threads as they unravel.
