B Corp Month 2023: We Go Beyond

B Corp Month 2023: We Go Beyond

In March each year we celebrate B Corp Month, a whole month to celebrate and showcase the best of the B Corp movement, together with our fellow B Corps around the world.

Why it’s important

B Corp explains the campaign for 2023:

“The world is facing some of the biggest crises and challenges of our time. Our environment is in rapid decline. Social justice gaps are widening, not closing. By choosing to prioritise profit over people and the planet, most businesses are adding to the problem. This B Corp Month, the We Go Beyond campaign will present the world with the community of impactful businesses who go beyond the harmful status quo and take action to transform the economic system."

“B Corp month invites people to understand why and how B Corps have chosen to pursue a more impactful path. It showcases that B Corp Certification isn’t just a mark; it’s a global movement of people going beyond business as usual to make their mark on the world.”

This year’s theme of We Go Beyond gives us the chance to show how we are already going above and beyond for our community, for our staff and within the art world.

How we go beyond: smashing our recertification score!

While achieving our B Corp certification in 2019 was a huge achievement for the business, we’ve always said we’re not going to rest on our laurels. So when we recertified in 2022 with an Impact Score of 111.6 — an improvement on our initial score of 37% taking us into the 'outstanding' category globally — we were ecstatic.

Our improved Impact Score shows us that we are doing good work, as well as constantly learning and improving. You can check out our B Corp score on the B Corp directory.

Best-in-class reviews

We understand that support and operations are the foundations of our business and we’re incredibly lucky to have such a committed, talented and empathetic team — members from other departments have tried their hand at support and it’s not an easy feat!

Through their hard work, Artfinder has an Excellent Trustpilot score, with a rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars from 6,000 reviews, making us best in our category!

Empowering women

Artist Anahita Amouzegar

We have an amazing community, where 54% of artists identify as female. In our last impact report, we saw women creating an amazing 60% of all art sold through the platform in 2021.

As well as this, 68% of Artfinder staff identify as female. In early 2023, we were proud to appoint our first ever female CEO, Joshna Rughani. Joshna says, “it’s my prerogative to ensure our entire community feels supported, heard and confident enough to bring their own ideas to the table.” Read more about this in our 2022 Impact Report.

Nurturing our community

We wouldn’t be here without our artists and understand the importance of supporting them in their Artfinder journey, right from the start. We welcome every new artist with a video call, guiding them through the set-up of their shop to when they make their first sale and beyond. Our Community Leader, David, is an artist himself, which is imperative to understanding the needs of our artists.

Our Artist Ambassador board

We don’t base decisions purely on what we think is best for the business. Yes, profit is important, but we know we have a 7,000-strong artist community whose opinions matter. This is why we’ve appointed an Artist Ambassador Board to ensure we keep delivering the best possible experience for our community and that our artists are represented in our decision-making.

Planting trees

In 2019, we launched a partnership with Ecologi to plant at least one tree for every artwork sold. We're a climate positive workforce and committed to Net Zero by 2030. We're also founding members of the Million Tree Pledge and signatories of the Better Business Act.

Our goal going forward is to put positive and actionable measures in place to make sure we stick to our net zero target.

Family and life-work balance friendly policies

As a small business, we want to make sure our team is taken care of. Because when you think about it, the nature of working full-time is that we often see each other more than our own families!

Work should be fulfilling and enjoyable, which is why Artfinder felt it was so important to commit to being a remote business, so you can do your work wherever and whenever it suits you. Plus, our flexible, family-friendly policies were put in place to help achieve that all-important life/work balance

Keep up with our B Corp Month fun

The best way to follow along as we talk about and with our favourite B Corps (it's not all about us after all!) is on our Instagram. We look forward to seeing many of you there!
