We did it! Artfinder achieves B Corp recertification with a huge 37% score increase

Exciting news from Artfinder HQ today! We are delighted to announce that we have successfully recertified as a B Corporation, increasing our score by a massive 37% to 111.6, taking us into the 'outstanding' category globally.

What does it mean?

The B Corp movement is really gaining pace - here in the UK there are now more than 900 B Corps. That's over 50,000 UK-based people working together for business as a force for good.

Artfinder was the world’s first art business to successfully achieve this prestigious certification back in 2019, which measures a commitment to meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. Every B Corp business must go through the recertification process every three years, and the expectation is that your score will improve.

Artfinder joins a rapidly growing global movement of more than 5,000 Certified B Corporations, including brands like Patagonia, Innocent Drinks and Ben & Jerry’s. More recent joiners in the UK include The Guardian Newspapers and Coutts Bank.

Artfinder COO, Joshna Rughani, says: "We started Artfinder to create a world where art benefits everyone. We're honoured to have recertified with such a huge improvement to our score, following many months of hard work answering more than 250 questions which make up the B Impact Assessment. That assessment examines every area of our business: its purpose, impact on society and environment and the changes we have made since initially certifying in 2019. This has been the work of our amazing team of 'Bee Keepers' here at Artfinder, including outgoing CEO, Michal Szczesny, whose passion and determination has been our guiding light on our B Corp journey and whose amazing progress we are determined to continue.

"Our mission is to make art accessible, affordable and a viable career for artists, and we’re committed to operating in the right way in order to achieve that. Our community of artists and customers can be reassured that we will do whatever it takes to push the art world into a more sustainable future. One where benefits are distributed fairly and our community’s work leaves a positive impact on the environment."

How will we make a difference?

Since 2019, we've launched a partnership with Ecologi to plant at least one tree for every artwork sold. We're a climate positive workforce and committed to Net Zero by 2030. We're also founding members of the Million Tree Pledge, signatories of the Better Business Act and a Living Wage employer. We've appointed a formal Artist Advisory Board, so that our community is consulted at the highest level in the business.

Learn more about our current initiatives and impact on our new About pages and read our 2022 Impact Report.

Finally, we're active members of the B Corp community, partnering with other B Corp businesses to spread the word. We are so excited for the opportunities ahead in building a world in which art benefits everyone!
