  • Biography
I was diagnosed 10 years ago with macular degeneration and since then it has sometimes been a struggle to keep on creating. Eventually, I was working less and less on my art and more on other ways to make a living (teaching English and Italian).
Just the other day, at the beginning of June 2024, I realised the loss of painting was causing great sadness in me and maybe it didn't have to be this way.
I took up my brushes and painted "The twilight zone". That was my Eureka moment - the new beginning!!
From now on my painting will eveolve along with my failing eyesight.
in the hope that, despite being a bit wonky, it will always retain that authentic part of me that is recognisable to my collectors and carry on bringing "that little piece of happiness" (as one Collector put it), for some time to come.

  • Education

    1962 - 1967

Luton Art School, Brera Academy of Art, Milan.

  • Awards

    1996

The Region of Lombardy - The four seasons at Idroscalo (Milano)

I rarely enter competitions but Idroscalo is very close to where I lived at the time, near Linate airport. It is an artificial lake and we'd spend many pleasant days there, hence my wish to enter this competition where I was one of the prize winners awarded a nice fat cheque.
