About Zurab Sharvadze

  • Biography
My name is Zurab Sharvadze. I am a full-time artist born and living in Tbilisi, Georgia. I have been painting since I can remember myself. Art is how I express myself, my thoughts, my feelings, my emotions, and that is the language I communicate with the world around me. Although I haven’t had any formal art education, I was apprenticing with the best Georgian artists throughout the years, and learnt a lot from them, but managed to create my own unique and easily recognizable style. I work in oil on canvas, and primarily I do landscapes. Nature is my greatest inspiration, and the plein air is my preferred studio. From early spring till late autumn, I can be seen with my easel in the Caucasus mountains, in the vineyards, flower meadows, old Tbilisi winding streets. Even when I travel abroad, I always bring with my portable easel and a couple of small canvases. During cold months and on rainy days, I am in my studio finishing the landscapes started outside or working on still lives or portraits. I have participated in quite a number of the group and solo exhibitions in Georgia and abroad, but I particularly proud of the fact that one of my portraits was selected to participate in the International Contemporary Portraiture Exhibition at the National Portrait Gallery in London in 2006. I have been selling my works successfully since the 90s through the galleries in Tbilisi and the social media. My works are presented in many private collections around the world: Germany, Switzerland, USA, the UK, Finland, Israel, France, Spain. Thank you for your interest in my art!
