  • Biography

    Hi!
My name is Polina Kharlamova and I am a professional full-time artist based in Helsinki, Finland. I have participated in several exhibitions and my artworks are found in private collections across the USA and Europe.

My main subjects of work are portraits and nature. The most important thing for me as an artist is to create a mood for the viewer, to help him capture the moment. Create an environment, a situation, a reason for thought with a picture.

The plots of my work were found in exceptional circumstances rather than in everyday life. It is idleness, music and flowers. Femininity and fragility intertwine with the dark, mysterious noir motives.

The theme of the search for harmony is always present in my works, I try to emphasize this with a restrained, deep color scheme.

I often speak symbolic language and get inspiration simultaneously from different periods of history: the Middle Ages, the Northern Renaissance and the mid-20th century, its music and the aesthetics of everyday things.

The main techniques of my works are tempera, oil on canvas and mixed media graphic techniques on paper. Each day I am in search of new mediums and materials,  means of expression and possibilities for expressing my emotions on canvas.
