About Mark Daniel

  • Biography
I thank God I get to create art it gives me a lot of pleasure and I hope you enjoy my paintings.   I grew up in a black and white world, TV was black and white, so was the newspaper and people's opinions.    When I read comics for the first time, they had a real impact on me and there is some nostalgia for them in my art.    I was influenced by Uderzo, Herge and Carl Barks comic artists.    As I studied art I saw other artists, Picasso, Van Gogh, Keith Haring, Roy Lichtenstein, Howard Arkley, Reg Mombassa of Mambo, Philip Guston, among others.     I continue to paint in a colourful, primal, style that is expressive and focuses on characters.   I sign my name Mark Daniel because no one can pronounce McLaughlin.
