  • Biography
     Recently named Best New Artist at the 2013 Scottish Variety Awards the Brora based Lola Nicol began work on her first collection after relocating to the Highlands in 2011. In little over a year the artist has garnered a great deal of attention, exhibiting a piece as part of the 'In the Rings with Muhammed Ali' exhibition at the London 2012 Olympics, providing album artwork for Edinburgh band The Merrylees and earning celebrity fans such as Lana Del Ray, Kassidy and The View who all own their own pieces of art work.

    On Sunday 4th November 2012 Lola took to Glasgow's iconic music venue King Tut's Wah Wah Hut for her first solo exhibition of work.
    The collection, Swinging with the Old Stars, collated and exhibited for the first time, focused it's attention on well known faces from the worlds of rock n roll, film and popular culture. Each piece, painted with acrylic on recycled wood going beyond traditional portrait and capturing the brooding intensity and offered glimpses of vulnerability the artist has found in each of her subjects.
