North east of India lie the tea estates of Darjeeling. For lovers of tea, Darjeeling tea is thin bodied and light colored. About 10 miles from Darjeeling lies the Jorpokhri forests. Deep, dark and mysterious. I was bewitched. That night I made an initial sketch in the rest house.
Back to teeming megapolis Mumbai, I painted Darjeeling 1' just as soon as I could.
