Original artwork description:

Winter light is what this painting is all about- I wanted to capture that special trick that nature does best in winter when the sun is low in the sky and seems to just gently touch the landscape with a golden brush of illumination, so deftly that you feel that you are walking on giant stage set designed by some master gaffer up there in the sky.

This is very much a picture about the dance between light and shade, each the perfect partner for the other as they draw the eye across the scene and toward the distant hills beyond.

Snow scenes are perhaps the purest expression of the essential truth of the landscape painters trade- it's all about the light.

Materials used:

Professional Quality Canvas and Acrylic paint
