Artist's description:

A departure from my usual colourful abstracts, Winter (II) combines the season's frosty colours with a spot of purple to suggest snow, snowflakes, icy ponds and grey skies. So many of us choose summer as our favourite season and can't wait for winter to end. Sometimes we miss the way that colours appear brighter against silver skies and the stark beauty of the season.

Winter (II) is an abstract work containing silver and chiyogami paper from Japan, framed in a contrasting black and silver. It's painted on high-quality thick paper for oil paints with a slight texture. Winter (II) is set on thick white paper with a rough edge on a grey background. The work is textured with paste and eggshell and further embellished with silver leaf. It is inspired from my time in Japan with its appreciation of the four seasons and beautiful hand-made papers, a big component of my work.

Winter (II) is seen here in a silver frame. The work is sold unframed to save on postage, but if you would like to purchase as appears here please contact to arrange postage.

All orders come with three complimentary hand-made cards created by the artist, mini artworks in themselves.

Acrylic and mixed media, chiyogami paper, silver leaf
