The vast and isolated hillsides of the Howgill Fells have a quality all of their own. Overlooked by the majority of visitors who flock to the Lakeland Fells - and once described by Wainwright as 'sleeping elephants' - they whisper quietly in their isolation and ruggedness. I have attempted here to capture the vast swathes of grass and moorland with strong sweeping flows of paint as the hills interlock and shadow each other.
This painting is complete with a beautifully handmade and finished white wooden frame - which leads the eye into the work. Signed by me on the front and reverse this painting is ready to hang.
