Original artwork description:

I often pass a property with preserved farm buildings near my home. I don’t know the former use of this small building; it’s located behind a large barn and is hardly noticeable from the road.

Though it may appear almost monochromatic, the painting surface was built up in multiple layers of oil paint with subtle color variances, using no tube black. It was painted on a panel using a palette knife and brushes in an impressionistic style with impasto texture.

Rural landscapes and natural areas are becoming increasingly scarce in the much of the country. Neglected farm buildings decay and can be lost to age, fire, or demolition. Once gone, their unique materials and construction cannot be replaced. Painting them is my attempt to help preserve their distinctive architectural styles, those well preserved and those weathered and worn, as a tribute to our farming heritage.

If you are interested in purchasing this painting with a frame, I have one available that you may want to consider.
