Artist's description:

This former tin mine stands proudly near Mary Tavy on Dartmoor and goes back to the 1740's when it produced lead, zinc and silver.

It is such an iconic building commanding views across the moors and was enhanced by a fantastic sunset as well as the deep autumn foliage in the foreground which provided a real test for the palette!

I wanted to capture a 'big' sky' and the traditional Dartmoor colourings.

Materials used:

Winsor and Newton professional watercolours on rough Arches paper

Wheal Betsy (2017)
