Artist's description:

Geronimo was an Apache Native American (1829-1909). He surrendered in 1886 to General Miles and this signified the end of the Indian Wars in the Southwestern United States. He died in 1909 at Fort Sill in Lawton Oklahoma, the state that I reside in. The photograph I based this painting on was taken in 1887 after his surrender. I always wondered what Geronimo was thinking when this photograph was taken. I took a few "artistic liberties" to show what I thought he might be thinking.
