Question for the artist?

Artist's description:

I live in a desert climate. A lot of people here don't seem to realize it and choose plants that aren't well suited for the desert. But lavender grows well here and there is a lavender farm not far from me. I used reference photos from a trip to that farm along with my imagination to construct this scene of a field of lavender in a characteristically western landscape.

Parallel rows of purple lavender follow the curve of the land. A dirt road leads through the rolling hills and forks off to curve toward the purple mountains and clouds in the distance.

Materials used:

oil paint on gesso board
