After a week of strong to gale force Westerly winds with many ferry cancellations over the Pentland Firth this was the scene from the first ferry to make the crossing from Scrabster to Stromness on the more exposed Westerly route. The Old Man of Hoy, Orkney's best known and highest sea-stac, appears out of the murk and spray.
