This painting was inspired by a reflection on melancholy.
The subject is a woman, ideally she is the one who have taught me, that only women are able to feel a sense of melancholy for the absence of the loved one which is intense, strong and deep.
A bed, sheets that have the scent of who is gone. The desire to breathe again that presence to touch again, the last time. The solitude of a moment that is both passion and sadness: the exact moment in which the folds of the sheets become waves and you have the sensation of drowning on your tears.
