This work is one of a series of wave studies inspired by the Algarve coastline. It was the tail end of summer, with the days still warm but the skies now patterned with clouds. There was a great energy to the scene, with the waves crashing into the beach, the clouds constantly changing as they crossed the sky and the foam sweeping over the sand.
I used acrylic paint for this work as I wanted to work fast and free to portray the energy in nature at this place. Vibrant colours and energetic marks from brush and palette knife captured the mood perfectly.
