Original artwork description:

Check out the video of my ‘me at work ‘section to see the amazing process used to produce a suminagashi print.
Beautiful koi on Suminagashi image on washi paper framed and sandwiched between 2bpieces of Perspex in dark charcoal frame
An eco produced artwork using natural products
I do giclee prints of this image and also produce hand. Embellished prints of these images using collage and paint
If you would like the piece without the frame sent in a tube please message me.
This is an ancient 12 century Japanese art of suminagashi. It involves floating water based inks onto water using surface tension and viscosity to move the inks. Then dipping washi paper or silk to produce a physical print Shinto priests used it as a form of meditation
I can totally lose myself producing these pieces. They are very much capturing a moment in time on the water as one touch can completely change the image. When I’ve printed the image on to the washi paper I make out the images I want to produce. I could see beautiful koi

Materials used:

Sumi ink, seaweed, guar gum, casein , gold leaf
