I sailed with a Malay crew on a cargo ship in the sixties and this painting is a memory of them washing down the decks at sea. They were a cheerful and unruly crowd and I was one of four apprentices working alongside them and learning from them.
I have tried to capture the wet steel decks and the ship gently rolling in the swell.
The painting is offered fully varnished and with a solid oak frame, ready to hang.
